Kimi Antonelli “History Boy” Is Formula 1 2026 Champion

This Sunday, on November 1st 2026, Kimi Antonelli, gained the nickname “History Boy” after becoming the youngest ever Formula 1 World Champion in history at only 20 years old.

Mercedes Formula 1 Team

Formula 1 is an auto-racing sport that takes its iconic roster of diverse drivers and teams across the world to race on varying tracks.

Kimi Antonelli is a young, Italian Formula 1 driver who has been driving alongside teammate George Russel for the Mercedes Formula 1 team since the 2025 season. Somehow, in only his second season in the big leagues, coming up from Formula 2, Antonelli won the entire game despite racing against some of the biggest names in F1 racing history like Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen and Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton.

The title of World Drivers’ Champion is given to the driver who, by the end of the season, has gathered the most points.

So how exactly can this Mercedes driver already call himself World Champ when the season isn’t over yet?

With a 3rd place win at the Mexico Grand Prix, Antonelli clinched the championship despite the fact that the 2026 season still has four races left by finally accumulating enough points to make catching up impossible for his fellow drivers.

Even if Max Verstappen, currently ranked 2nd place in the drivers standings with a total of 261 points wins every single one of the remaining season races (at 25 points per win) he would end with only a total of 361 points compared to Kimi Antonelli’s already secured, incredible 380 points

From racing with a driver number of 12, to securing the “1” number, Antonelli was cheered across the finish line by his team, his family, his fellow drivers, and his many fans both in the stadiums and at home.

Antonelli became one of the 36 drivers who have won a Formula One World Championship.

He cried. We cried. We all cried.

This young Italian’s season of broken records, five race-win streaks, and incredible victories, culminated in the honor of being hoisted to the shoulders of Verstappen and Hamilton after celebrating his World Championship victory in Mexico City.
