There’s something about September that makes you want to get your life together. Maybe it’s the notebooks. Maybe it’s the colder mornings, the first leaves changing, or the sudden urge to reorganize your entire room at 11:47 p.m. Maybe it’s just the fact that summer is officially over and, somehow, we’ve been handed a brand-new season to try again. Whatever it is, we’re calling it.
This is the time to lock-in.
But not the terrifying, productivity-guru, wake-up-at-5-a.m.,-drink-green-juice kind of lock-in. Not the version where you convince yourself that every minute of your day needs to be optimized and every goal needs to be achieved immediately.
The kind where you finally start doing the things you’ve been saying you’ll do.
The book you keep meaning to finish, the project sitting untouched in your notes app, the class you’ve fallen behind in, the hobby you abandoned because you weren’t instantly good at it, the little promises you made to yourself and quietly forgot about.
September is a good time to come back to them.
This issue is about finishing things, falling behind, starting over, getting organized, finding your rhythm, and becoming a little more intentional with your time. We’re talking about the art of actually finishing things, why falling behind isn't the end of the world, how to get yourself unstuck, and, because we refuse to become completely boring, 100 cozy things to do this fall.
So grab your notebook. Put your phone down for five minutes. Make a ridiculously ambitious to-do list. Cross something off it. Go outside. Start the thing. Finish the thing. And if you don't finish it today?
Try again tomorrow.
Welcome to September.
Let's get our stuff together.
